Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) is a prestigious university in China under the direct administration of the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is one of China's top universities listed under the Project 985 and Project 211, which are the Government's new initiatives to build world-class universities. Today, BFSU offers courses in 67 foreign languages and education programmes at various levels, including doctoral programmes in foreign languages and literature, Chinese language and literature, journalism and communication, political science, law, management science and engineering. As many of its alumni work or have worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China as ambassadors and counsellors, BFSU is known as the "Cradle of Diplomats".
After a fruitful collaboration dating back to 2007, SUSS and BFSU renewed their MOU on 1 June 2016. This underscores their strengthened partnership in the Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpretation programme at the School of Arts and Social Sciences. Both institutions undertake to promote cooperation in the delivery of lectures by visiting academics, development and sharing of course materials and services for lifelong learning, and student exchange programmes.
