SIM University Celebrates 7th Convocation With 1,800 Graduands

  1. SIM University (UniSIM) celebrates the graduation of its seventh cohort of more than 1,800 students over five sessions from 2 - 4 October 2012.
     
  2. Mr Tharman Shamugaratnam (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance) and Mr Chan Chun Sing (Acting Minister, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports) will address the graduands in the first and second sessions of the Convocation respectively. The two ministers will also be presenting awards to graduates with outstanding academic performance. The Convocation will be presided by Professor Cham Tao Soon, Chancellor and Chairman, UniSIM.
     
  3. This year’s Convocation will witness the graduation of the first cohort of Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel from various degree programmes in Business, Finance, Marketing and Multimedia. Besides a degree in the respective disciplines, these SAF personnel will graduate with a minor in Military Studies. The UniSIM-SAF collaboration was established in 2009 to enable non-graduate SAF personnel to upgrade through UniSIM undergraduate programmes, with the option to earn a minor in Military Studies with credits from their SAF Professional Military Education courses.
     
  4. Other first graduating cohorts are from undergraduate programmes in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Engineering (Aerospace Systems), Human Factors in Safety, Malay Language and Literature, Chinese Language and Literature1, as well as from two Master programmes-Master of Counselling and Master of Urban Transport Management.
