The buzzword in the tech world is Virtual Reality (VR). If you haven’t quite experienced VR, and are wondering how it works, this course teaches you everything you need to know about Virtual Reality 360 filmmaking and photography

This course will cover how to plan for and film the immersive video that is fed into the VR experience. Capturing a video is only half the 360° filmmaking process. You will learn to download, synchronize, stitch together, edit and process your footage or photograph before it gets uploaded into a VR headset. During the workshop, participants will be introduced to the tools available today and will be able explore the future of VR and the opportunities it offers us.

About the Trainer

Jonathan Foo is a veteran of the media, technology and education industries.

He was the founder of Mega Media, one of Singapore’s largest private media enterprises, generating an output of 9 feature films and hundreds of hours of international co-productions. Mega Media was the first Asian media company to move into High Definition video production. It also owned and operated Singapore’s first independent HD broadcast playout facility that launched 6 HD Channels for SingTel’s MioTV platform.

In education, Jonathan designed and teaches five level-3 courses as part of the Bachelor of Multimedia Technology and Design at SUSS. He was a pioneer eLearning developer, having designed three eLearning modules and was awarded the Bronze certificate for collaborative eLearning by the School of Science and Technology. Jonathan has lectured for two years at NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communications and for a decade at SIM University. In 2017, he was awarded SUSS’s Innovation Seed Grant for research in “Developing the tools and systems for Immersive VR 360 Live Streaming Video in eLearning”. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education at the National Institute of Education at NTU, specializing in Technologies and Technology-Mediated Learning Environments

Today, Jonathan continues to work closely with the Centre for Continuous and Professional Education (CCPE) at SUSS in identifying and developing programmes for adult learners. Understanding the national need for retraining and skills conversion, Jonathan has begun to develop programmes in the areas of Social Media, Digital Content Management, Entrepreneurship and Immersive Learning Technologies.
