Synopsis

This course focuses on the practice of translation. Students will be exposed to a variety of texts to ensure that they have enough practice in translating in real time situations. Amongst the key genres that will be highlighted include literary, general language text, specialized text e.g. finance / scientific and finally legal. Students will discuss quality control in translation and also the analysis of equivalence at all levels (word, sentence and text). This course has an open book final exam.

E-Learning: BLENDED - Learning is done MAINLY online using interactive study materials in MyUniSIM. Students receive guidance and support from online instructors via discussion forums and emails. This is supplemented with SOME face-to-face sessions. If the course has an exam component, this will be administered on-campus.
